Straighten Your Teeth With Invisalign

Get A More Confident, Healthy Smile Without Braces

If you’ve been dreaming about a straighter smile in Charleston, SC but you’d like to avoid bulky, uncomfortable braces, Invisalign from Dr. Lawrence Fischer may be right for you. With Invisalign, you can get the smile you’ve always wanted without the discomfort, difficult maintenance, and inconvenience of braces.

How Does Invisalign Straighten Teeth?

Invisalign uses the same basic principles as braces. But instead of using brackets and wires to move your teeth, it uses a series of thin, clear, plastic aligners (also called “trays”) that exert gentle, even pressure on your teeth to move them into healthier positions over time.

It takes about two weeks for your teeth to settle into their new positions. Once that happens, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners. Each set of aligners is designed to move teeth by about 0.2 to 0.3 millimeters, depending on your treatment plan and your specific needs.

Invisalign treatment typically takes between 6-18 months, with average treatment times of about 12 months. Once your treatment is over, you’ll enjoy perfectly aligned teeth, a healthier bite, and increased confidence.

The Benefits Of Choosing Invisalign

Nearly invisible when worn

Invisalign is made from super-thin, transparent plastic. When you’re wearing your aligners, they will be nearly invisible. This means that you don’t have to worry about Invisalign affecting your appearance. In fact, nobody even has to know that you’re getting orthodontic treatment unless you want them to know!

Simple oral hygiene and no dietary restrictions

You can take your aligners out to brush and floss. This means it’s easier to maintain healthy teeth, since you won’t have to worry about brushing around brackets and wires. You’ll also remove your Invisalign to eat and drink, which means you can continue eating all of your favorite foods during treatment.

More comfortable than braces

Invisalign has no sharp metal components that could poke, prod, or irritate your mouth. It also tends to move teeth a little bit more gradually, which helps reduce overall discomfort throughout the treatment process.

Faster treatment time

Most qualifying patients need around 12 months to straighten their teeth with Invisalign, though this may vary depending on the specifics of your case. In contrast, traditional metal braces usually require at least 18 months for treatment.

Spectacular results

Once you’re done with your treatment at Everything Dental, you’ll love how your smile looks. You can smile proudly and confidently. Not only that, but a straighter smile and healthier bite makes it easier to care for your teeth, prevents premature tooth wear, and may even reduce your risk of cavities and gum disease.

What To Expect From The Invisalign Treatment Process

  • Orthodontic consultation – First, you’ll need to visit Dr. Fischer for an orthodontic consultation. He will conduct an oral exam, take X-rays of your mouth and jaw, and determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign. Most patients with minor-to-moderate orthodontic issues will qualify, but patients with more serious orthodontic needs may still require treatment with traditional braces.

  • Designing your treatment plan – Once you’re approved for treatment, Dr. Fischer will take a 3D scan of your mouth. Then, he will upload it to a computer program and work with Invisalign to design your treatment plan. It will usually take several weeks to finish your treatment plan and order your first several sets of aligners from Invisalign.

  • Picking up your aligners – When your aligners arrive at Everything Dental, you’ll come in to pick them up. Dr. Fischer will give you instructions on how to wear your Invisalign trays, how to clean your teeth, and how to make sure your treatment stays on track. Ideally, you should wear your aligners for 20-22 hours per day, removing them only to brush and floss and for meals.

  • Continued wear and checkups – About every 1-2 weeks, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners, as directed by Dr. Fischer. You will also need to come in for a quick checkup every 6-8 weeks. During this checkup, Dr. Fischer will make sure your treatment is on track, and he will give you a few more sets of aligners to wear until your next visit.

  • Final visits and Invisalign retainers – Once your teeth have reached their ideal positions, you’ll be all done with Invisalign! The last step is to get a set of Invisalign retainers to protect your new smile.. You will need to wear them as directed by Dr. Fischer to keep your teeth from moving back toward their original positions.
